Micro Health Laboratories (MHL) Dermatopathology specialty service is a joint subspecialty of dermatology and pathology focusing on the cutaneous diseases at a microscopic and molecular level. It mainly involves the careful study of the morphology of a wide range of diseases and results in a highly specific and accurate diagnostic interpretation.

To meet the needs of the growing huge number of referrals and sample catchment coming from clinicians and their patients both domestic and international, the facility houses state of the art and advanced technologies for evaluating routine to the most difficult dermatopathologic cases. This will allow optimized turnaround time (TAT) and standardization of the process from specimen collection or receiving until a report has been released. 


Vitiligo: The skin loses melanin, leading to patches of lighter colored skin.

Acne: One of the most common diseases , acne is a disease affecting the oil glands of the skin resulting in pimples. Acne can cause depression and low self-esteem.

Dermatitis and eczema: Dermatitis is inflammation of the skin. and takes many forms which includes contact dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis, and atopic dermatitis.

Fungal infections: Fungus can infect the skin, nails, and hair. Fungal infections are common, and symptoms vary from mild to severe, the later especially in the immunocompromised.

Skin cancer: The most common forms of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma (BCC), melanoma, and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC). Early treatment may be life saving for many patients.

Nail problems: Dermatologists also treat conditions affecting the nails. These complaints often consist of fungal infections and ingrowing toenails. Nail problems can be indicative of other underlying conditions.
